NKU 2022 Winter Piano Pedagogy Conference

INFORMATION - REGISTER! 

The Northern Kentucky Winter Piano Pedagogy Conference will proceed as originally planned live at Northern Kentucky University on Saturday February 12, 2022 from 9:30 am through 3:30 pm.

 

Streaming and/or virtual options will be made available if we need to restrict attendance due to COVID-19. All COVID protocols established by the NKU COVID Preparedness team will be enforced.

Dr. Matilda Ertz, Piano Instructor at the the Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville and Lecturer in Musicology at the University of Louisville, will explore the “Implications of Both Baroque Dance and Harpsichord Performance Practice on the Interpretation of Baroque Keyboard Works on the Piano.”

Dr. Curtis Pavey, recent DMA graduate from UC-CCM will present "An Introduction to Early Music and the Harpsichord." A synopsis of a guidebook to help pianists understand the Harpsichord.

Dr. Richard Van Dyke, NKU Keyboard Area Coordinator will discuss "Piano Physic 101: The Science of Sound" plus a master class to intermediate/early advanced students immediately following supporting the preceding discussion.
